Thank you to you all for their contributions to make DBF 2025 such a successful day.

Please extend our heartfelt thanks to all of your team members, friends and family for making Dragon Boat Festival 2025  such an enjoyable day.

19 teams pitted their varying rowing skills against each other and the clock, and the winners for the second year running were Rolls Royce Apprentices, many congratulations to “Rollsing on the River”. Runners up were “Frazer Splash,  with “Business Beats Cancer Bristol Dragons” a close third place.

Best Fancy Dress this year went to Box Twenty “Box Twenty FIN-ishers” for their Jaws costumes complete with shark heads and blood stained t-shirts, very entertaining. A great effort from a lot of other teams too.

Without everyone’s hard work and enthusiastic involvement this would not have been possible, and on behalf of the club, Lifeskills, Hartcliffe & Withywood Community Partnership and Unseen, and a lot of other good causes who will benefit from funds raised, thank you!!

We were ably supported by Dragon Boat Events and John Ford and Flora Sulit as our announcers for the day. And very good they were too!

The Dragon Boat Celebration & Presentation Morning will take place at Redland Green Club in October and more details will follow over the next few weeks.

Raising funds to help combat food insecurity, expand access to education, and work towards a world without slavery

The Event

The annual Dragon Boat Festival (DBF) is organised by the Bristol Breakfast Rotary Club, who are currently meeting regularly at Redland Green Club in Redland, Bristol. The objectives are to have fun and raise money for charities. The Festival is held at Baltic Wharf on the Bristol City Harbourside between The Cottage Inn and the Bristol Marina. Teams will be raising money for local and other Rotary Charities unless otherwise agreed.

This year, we are raising funds for:

Lifeskills Learning for Living Bristol – promoting safety education to help people make safer choices.

Hartcliffe and Withywood Community Partnership – supporting local community initiatives.

Unseen UK – working tirelessly for a world without slavery.

As well as local and international Rotary charitable causes.

The Racing

The DBF, is a full day’s event with up to 36 teams competing in heats, semi-finals and a grand final.  The fundraising is achieved by all crew members obtaining sponsorship.  Boats, paddles, buoyancy aids and instruction are provided by the organisers who are professional event organisers.

No previous experience is necessary and it is open to all, subject to a minimum age of 16 and being able to swim 50 yards in light clothing.

Team Information

Fancy dress makes it more fun so prizes are awarded to the winners of the best fancy dress as well as the winners and those who raise the most sponsorship.

In addition to having great fun and raising money for good causes, the event can provide companies, other groups and organisations with an opportunity for team building.
