Thank you to everyone for your contribution to make DBF 2024 such a successful day.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to all of team members, friends and family for making this year’s festival such an enjoyable day.
23 teams pitted their varying rowing skills against each other and the clock, and the winners and runners up were:
Rolls-Royce “Rollsy McRoyceface”
Penny Brohn “Paddle Power Penny”
Balfour Beatty “Hinkley Marine Works BB Marine Tigers”
Without everyone’s hard work and enthusiastic involvement this would not have been possible, and on behalf of the club, Penny Brohn, and a lot of other good causes who will benefit from funds raised, thank you!!
Best Fancy Dress this year went to Wards “House of Wards” for their Barristers costumes complete with resplendent silver wigs and black gowns, closely followed by Amalgam Modelmaking Ltd “Ghostbust-oars” dressed as various ghosts and gouls from Ghostbusters. A great effort from a lot of teams too.
We also had music from The One Love Choir and “Made on the Moon” East Asian performers. Lovely Hong Kong Street Food from Horace Chung too!
The Dragon Boat Celebration & Presentation Morning will take place at Redland Green Club on Wednesday 18th September at 7.00 AM and more details will follow soon.

The annual Dragon Boat Festival (DBF) is organised by the Bristol Breakfast Rotary Club, who are currently meeting regularly at Redland Green Club in Redland, Bristol.
The objectives are to have fun and raise money for charities.
The Festival is held at Baltic Wharf on the Bristol City Harbourside between The Cottage Inn and the Bristol Marina.
The 2024 DBF will be held on Sunday 16th June to raise money for Penny Brohn UK and other Rotary Charities.
Penny Brohn UK is a Bristol based charity offering cancer health and wellbeing support. It helps people feel better in mind, body and spirit by offering everybody with cancer a choice of personalised cancer care. All free, safe and backed by research.
The DBF, is a full day’s event with up to 36 teams competing in heats, semi-finals and a grand final. The fundraising is achieved by all crew members obtaining sponsorship. Boats, paddles, buoyancy aids and instruction are provided by the organisers who are professional event organisers.
No previous experience is necessary and it is open to all, subject to a minimum age of 16 and being able to swim 50 yards in light clothing.
Fancy dress makes it more fun so prizes are awarded to the winners of the best fancy dress as well as the winners and those who raise the most sponsorship.
In addition to having great fun and raising money for good causes, the event can provide companies, other groups and organisations with an opportunity for team building.
